The Mulligan School of Irish Step Dance was founded in 1974 by Eileen Mulligan. Eileen (now Eileen Evans) has been involved in Irish Step Dance for over 35 years. In her early years, she trained in New York and danced competitively in the Northeast U.S. and Canada for many years. Since then, she has earned her T.C.R.G. teacher's certificate, and has been honored in the Atlanta area for her work in promoting the Gaelic culture.
Students from the Mulligan School compete in Feiseannas (competitions) all over the United States and Ireland. Many have won regional championships including 1st place finishes at Oireacthas, and some have competed in the World Championships in Ireland.
Members of the school also travel as a performing group known as the Tara Dance Company. The company's mission is to compete, educate and share our Irish culture. Performances have included the Para-Olympics, Good Morning Atlanta TV show, Noonday Show, Celtic Christmas, Coca-Cola's Centennial Celebration, Chateau Elan and the Renaissance Festival.
